Entasker is a specialist consultancy based in Birchgrove, Sydney, with roots in law firm systems going back to the late 1970s. We’ve worked with firms from sole practitioners to some of the largest in the world. The people who scope your migration are the people who run it, and they’ve done it before on the system you’re leaving.

Oliver Townshend

Founder and Director

Oliver grew up around law firm systems: his mother founded Sashalom in the late 1970s, supplying systems to firms such as Dawson Waldron and Abbott Tout Creer & Wilkinson. He entered his first timesheets at Baker McKenzie in 1980, and in 2004 established Code Legal Pty Ltd, which grew out of the family business and now trades as Entasker. He has since led more than 100 law firm data migrations, for firms ranging from sole practitioners to some of the largest in the world.

His enterprise work includes leading global finance integration and data services at Dentons during its global finance transformation, running the conversion into Elite 3E for PPB Advisory, leading data migration at the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office, and practice management migrations at Clayton Utz. He has also worked with Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, Blake Dawson (now Ashurst), Henry Davis York and Abbott Tout.

He works hands-on with LEAP, Open Practice, Affinity, Practice Evolve, Aderant, Elite 3E, Smokeball, Clio and Actionstep, and builds the SQL Server and API tooling Entasker uses to move data between them. He holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Graduate Diploma in Information Science from the University of Tasmania, and is also a director of NewLaw and nCloudr.

Carolyn Law

Senior Project Manager

Carolyn manages Entasker’s migration projects from planning through to go-live, and is usually the person your team talks to week to week.

She came to legal technology after a decade in library software, with a background in client liaison, documentation, training and implementation.

Nearly fifty years in law firm systems

Entasker is a family business that has been supplying and supporting law firm systems in Sydney since the late 1970s.

  1. Late 1970s

    Sashalom

    Oliver’s mother founds Sashalom, supplying systems to Sydney law firms including Dawson Waldron, Abbott Tout Creer & Wilkinson and Barker Gosling.

  2. 1980

    Into the law firms

    Oliver enters his first timesheets at Baker McKenzie, the start of a career inside law firm finance and practice systems.

  3. 2004

    Code Legal Pty Ltd

    Oliver establishes Code Legal Pty Ltd, growing out of Sashalom and focused on law firm systems, conversions and data migration. It now trades as Entasker.

  4. 2000s–2010s

    Enterprise projects

    Practice management migrations at Clayton Utz, Elite 3E and Aderant consulting for larger firms, and the Elite 3E conversion for PPB Advisory.

  5. 2019–2025

    Dentons

    Oliver leads global finance integration and data services during Dentons’ global finance transformation.

  6. Today

    Moving firms to the cloud

    More than 100 migrations to Smokeball, Clio and Actionstep, conversions into Elite 3E and Aderant, and managed cloud desktops, alongside partners NewLaw and nCloudr.
